Create Community, The Product will Come After
Now hear me out - a product can take years and sometimes decades to produce, perfect, or deliver. A community can take just as long. But whether it was worth it is up to you. Of course, even if your community consists of 1 or 1000 - it’s all subjective. Today I’m tackling when you’re starting and where your vision should be.
Community then Product
Building a product, whether it’s an NFT project or perhaps you’re selling a fridge, makes more sense when it’s specifically designed for a community. A community you built. A willing and excited market. These folks aren’t random customers you’re chasing, they’re already here for you.
The hard part is not building that product or even landing at an idea - it’s cultivating and building a community. It takes time, effort, and presence on multiple platforms for it to click. It’s hard and that’s why people would rather not. Producing a product right away is sexier.
The community will save your ass when all else fails. They’ll tell you this isn’t working, and are willing to try it when it does. If I am part of your community then I know it’s not a one-way street, you have contributed value to my life.
Of course, my thoughts on this are still developing and I’ll be revisiting them soon.
