The Only Failure is Lack of Consistency

Sebastiano Buratto

Defining failure is arduous. Failure is relative. Plenty of writers and thought-leaders have discussed it at length, in well-polished language. This is more of a rough draft of ongoing thoughts around this topic.

At least once in our lives, we’re forced to reconcile what we view our failings and wins to be and what the distinction is. For me, it’s a matter of consistency.

Consistency

Between the well-read cynics and the optimistic majority, those that embrace consistency are easier to follow. But we are all inconsistent in some ways, which provides a path for nuance. It makes life interesting.

Regarding an outlook on failure for our personal goals, it makes more sense to measure just how consistent we are rather than what we’re able to extract in a short time. However, it's difficult because we know incremental actions make a difference but that requires patience…and consistency.

The very thing we avoid is what’s needed.
